October 2016 – Fighting disorganized tourism – C5 Activity
To avoid unauthorized access car we realized three metal barriers that we set on the main roads in sites. Two barriers have been placed on Citadel Hill Lempes and one was located in Prejmer Forest and thus, by supplementing existing barriers, we managed to limit the access by motorized means […]
October 2016 -Reducing the phenomenon, caused burning stubble – C5 Activity
As every year, in the measure C5 “Reducing the anthropogenic impact on priority habitats in the project area”, in early October we have started to tackle the “phenomenon of arson caused stubble” by plowing a strip of land 2m. Since September we decided that in early October we have to achieve […]
September 2016 – Measures to help the regeneration of Quercus sp. forest, 91I0 priority habitat – C3 Activity
We started stripping saplings planted, after the passing of summer because evapotranspiration doesn’t reach a level so high, the soil retains moisture for a long time and that’s why this type of works could be achieved. We also installed a video monitoring system on Citadel Hill-Lempes that we want to see […]
September 2016 – Monitoring the evolution of ground water regime – D1 Activity
For monitoring soil water regime, specialists of the project Life for Marsh constantly monitored water levels in the marsh and its fluctuations through boreholes. In October, we eliminate vegetation around these boreholes and I reinstalled the missing pins, for easier and rapid identification in the field.
September 2016 – Following the identification of Liparis loeselii specimens we began the breeding procedures
We accomplished this by field marking the specimens that we identified via GPS points and locations, and we also have monitored all summer to see when it reaches the optimal time for harvesting the seeds. From numerous studies and discussions with various researchers, we concluded that late September would be optimal […]
August 2016 – Monitoring sites and removing invasive species
In this month, Marsh for Life team held up action to monitor the community interest plants and to eliminate the invasive ones. The tractor equiped with shredders proved its usefulness again, even if some plants were over 1 meter tall. An interesting fact was that unlike previous years, now over […]
August 2016 – Ecological Restoration and conservation for Prejmer and Harman swamps
From the experience of previous years, from early July we monitor certain areas of the swamp to identify the presence and assess the conservation status of Community interest species. After the evaluations, we have concluded that we have a much larger number of specimens of Ligularia sibirica than we expected […]
August 2016 – Monitoring the soil water regime -Activity D1
The purpose of the study is to establish hydrological groundwater dynamics in the marsh area and to characterize the hydrological regime for the soils. Scientific research will substantiate the management measures of the site and will be able to better forecast the groundwater in different conditions of prolonged drought or […]
